Sports
Beyond your academic pursuits, the University provides a wealth of sporting and cultural activities at the Club, College and University level. The list of University wide societies can be found at www.cam.ac.uk/societies and sports and www.sport.cam.ac.uk. The freshers’ fair, held at the beginning of October, is another ideal way to learn about available activities. Most sports are played at the College level and the College runs a squash with information on how to get involved. Novices welcome! Many of our members take part in sports either at College level or University level. Whatever your sport or ability, there's bound to be someone else interested. Details about some College sports are given below (last updated Oct 2011).

Social Events
It's not all hard work in the library or on the sports field. Sometimes we just like to go down to the pub and socialise. Alternatively, we might have a gentle walk into Grantchester, followed by scones at the Orchard. Here you will find social events planned for the near future. Social events are also put into the calendar on the left (click on the yellow dates).

MCR Dinners
 MCR Dinners are arranged several times a term, and provide a chance for postgraduate members of College and their guests to enjoy a waiter-service, three course meal.
The dinners start at 7:30pm, and are preceeded by drinks in the New SCR at 7pm. Dress is formal, and gowns are not usually worn. Several of the dinners are themed, and may involve prizes for fancy-dress! An e-mail will be sent round a couple of weeks before each dinner to ask you to book tickets. You can either book tickets by replying to the e-mail, or by using the online booking system. To use that, register on this site via the link on the right, and then once you're logged in, click on the "MCR Dinner Booking" link on the user menu on the left. During Full Term, there are also Formal Halls every Tuesday and Thursday. Tickets for these can be purchased by e-mailing the MCR Secretary by the Sunday a week before the Formal Hall (i.e. 9 days before a Tuesday Formal, and 11 days before a Thursday Formal). Dress for these is lounge suit, tie, and academic gown for men, and the equivalent for women.
