Role of the MCR

MCRSelwyn MCR seeks to bring people from all different areas together in a variety of ways, through dinners, film nights, or just relaxing in front of the TV. We arrange dinners with graduate communities from other Colleges and, on occasion, from other Universities. We also seek to introduce people from widely varying subjects to other people's interests and research through Work in Progress talks, where a member of the MCR presents his or her research in a way accessible to anyone who might be interested.

The MCR has a room in Cripps Court, a minute's walk away from the main College site. Here you will find daily newspapers, free tea and coffee, a TV with a Sky subscription, computers for checking e-mail and so on.

The MCR is run by a student committee, who try to make sure that all tastes are catered for. If you have any concerns, queries, or problems, then you can approach a member of the committee who will either try to help you, or will know where you can go to find help. The committee also liases with College, making sure that the College is aware of any concerns that students may have about facilities. In this way, College can ensure that it is doing the best it can for the welfare and day-to-day life of its students.
