Football in Selwyn is one of the most widely participated-in sports and can be played at all levels, from competitive eleven aside division one football to casual five aside kickabouts in the sun in Easter term. We have regular fixtures for three different teams: our first and second XI play almost every weekend throughout Michaelmas and Lent terms while the cuppers-winning five aside team play on Friday evenings all year long. During the week we hold a training session currently on Tuesdays at 2pm and a fitness session (time tbc). If you are interested in playing at all, please contact Dave Hawes at dhh29.
Selwyn-Robinson MCR Men's Football
The Selwyn MCR men's football team is run jointly with Robinson college
and plays in the MCR league throughout Michaelmas and Lent terms. Matches
are generally played on a Sunday afternoon, with training on Wednesday
evenings. All abilities are welcome so anyone interested should get
involved. Contact Harry Beeson (hjb58) for more information.
Selwyn-Robinson Women’s Football
Selwyn has a women’s football team joint with Robinson College; commitment is fairly low-key, with matches usually being played on Saturday afternoons. Undergraduates and postgraduates of all abilities are welcome – the only real requirement is enthusiasm (a pair of football boots would also be useful…).
We won Cuppers in 2010, and with the team growing ever-stronger, could possibly repeat this feat in the very near future.
Contact the team secretary for more information (Louisa Denby - lrd23), or this year’s captain (Amo King – ak707).
